This trip is an extension of the Mervis Diamond radio campaign of the last 25+ years, of Ronnie Mervis telling about the family connection to South Africa and its world-class diamond mines.
Mervis has long been a partner with Team 980 Radio (Formerly ESPN 980). Our goal is to bring our radio campaign to life. We want to take listeners to see the beauty of South Africa themselves!
We’re flying South African Airways, Africa’s Most Awarded Airline. Enjoy complimentary (and incredible) South African wines all the way until touch down.
If you prefer to book your own air travel, you’re welcome to do that also. See pricing.
When do I need to pay?
All travel arrangements are being handled by our partner, Great Safaris.
Who is the trip meant for?
The trip is open for all. We have limited space in the lodging, however, and expect to sell out. In previous years, we’ve had couples, families, extended families, and single professionals all come together under the African sun.
Am I having amnesia or didn’t Mervis do a safari with ESPN before?
You are perfectly healthy and yes, Mervis has hosted 7+ safari trips to South Africa in previous years with ESPN 980 (led by Steve Czaban, Doc Walker, Andy Pollin). We also did a trip with DC101 led by Elliot in the Morning.
Do I need a visa?
The short answer is no, but please speak with Great Safaris for details.
Your passport needs 2 EMPTY PAGES or the airline will not let you board the plane. Our very own Jonathan Mervis was rejected at the airport on our first trip when he didn’t appreciate the strictness of that rule.
